In the Name of Security
Master,
I ask for shelter
Under the shade of your sacred protection,
In the kiss on your foot that I gave
Oh, Master,
Please, let me come
And find refuge in your body.
In the name of security,
Some are traded like animals,
Some are hated by their nation,
Some are killed and floated down the river,
Some disappear, never to return,
Some die in chains.
Master,
May I ask for a piece of land to farm?
To live humbly like dust on the earth.
Why do you drive me away,
In the name of security?
Master,
My child was born under your roof,
Can they stay under it too?
To serve you under your feet.
Why do you cast them out from beneath the eaves?
In the name of security,
I praise you
To live in comfort and ease,
On the sweat and toil of our life,
On the flesh, blood, and dreams that were taken,
On the lives and spirits that were lost.
You may strip freedom from our limbs,
But you cannot take the spirit from our hearts.
In the Name of Security
I will remain with you,
For I have lost a beloved husband,
Lost a child, the light of my heart,
Lost a father, the core of our family.
Let that loss be a peace that cannot be erased.
Master, lead the way
Can the freedom of the wind
Truly be imprisoned?
From 4 to 8, to 10, and then 15,
The wind will carry
Him back to drink
As a free man,
Singing songs of rights
For all to witness and speak.
To the Honourable Court
They have a family, a wife and children, just like you.
To the Honourable Court,
They have dreams and a heart, no different from yours.
There is no golden sky that you dream of,
The sky is still blue,
Some days it’s black,
Some days it’s cloaked in white clouds,
But when the last light comes,
Perhaps it’s true,
That the golden sky is not just a fantasy.
I speak in the name of security,
People remain standing daringly,
People are still equal,
Human rights
Are the ultimate security,
Far greater than you
who thinks you will endure forever.
